Will Beatty Buck now be entered into P&Y?

i don't see why it's an "inferior" kill ,what because he used a higher letoff ,thats a bunch of crap !! no matter how you look at it ,it's still DEAD!! i think mike beatty and anyone else that used a high letoff bow to harvest a trophy animal should tell the p&y club to stick it!! the only reason they are changing the rules is probably because they need more money!! just because someone used a higher letoff doesn't make it any less of a trophy then someone who used a longbow , some of those guys at p&y have to get off of the high horse they are on !!

I honestly believe they changed the rule because they were being left out of the loop. With all the record kills being made and with 75% of the hunters using over 65% letoff... they were loosing business. Their stanch stubborn stand and seeming unwillingness to discuss it for so long ... people were saying who cares what P & Y thinks. This is a great deer with a bow. New scoring systems have gained popularity, people were entering macho deer in Boone and Crocket etc etc. Well, it had to change... they just waited to long is all.

He still had to draw the bow in the presence of that buck. I believe it's only a matter of time until P&Y removes the asterisks. I don't see why they are reluctant to change a let-off rule. I'm not a member so my opinion doesn't matter. As far as I'm concerned as long as you have to draw the bow when the animal is present it should be included. P&Y realized that they were falling by the wayside by continuing to limit the let-off because that's where archery is headed. Like I said it's their book they can do what they want but they will ultimately have to recognize that if they are to be considered the pre-eminent bowhunters organization they have to keep up with the times. If you think the bow that killed it somehow makes it inferior you are 100% wrong. As far as we know that is the largest deer ever killed with a bow and arrow and the book is supposed to be about the animal and not the hunter. I also believe he will enter it because he instantly becomes even more marketable as the P&Y world record holder and last I checked all the asterisk does is denote the bow used was above 65% let-off so it's still the P&Y world record. Whether entered or not we know who killed the deer and it's score.

Back in the "day" numbers 1 through 61 each counted when Roger Maris broke the home run record. Over time the asterisk they put by that record became meaningless and in the end his accomplishment was fully accepted. When Maris' record finally fell in 1998 no one cared about that itty bitty mark (*).
