In my opinion, you did a fine thing. " Hunting," refers to the entire experience a-z....nice warm sunshine & extreme cold temps, large bucks & small does, seeing nothing & seeing game aplenty, shooting a big rack after much scouting - ungodly hours on stand - a great shot broadside to your cleared shooting lane & harvesting a nice deer, ensuring the quality of your future hunt!

He came, you shot, you ate... it' s a kill/hunt/ anything you want to call it. Get over it.

I am not looking for sympathy, praise or any other self-driven gratification. I was simply looking for opinions on this matter to help sort out my own thoughts about this. For the past two months, I' ve been under the impression that' s what this board was partly about - getting other hunters' opinions to help out in a variety of topics. But, I guess there has to be an a$$hole or two in every group out there, so I guess I' ll just have to get over it. wimp - no crying here. don' t worry.
Thanks all for helping me out this.

Bob,
I took a look on the ML board. That' s a nice lookin' buck. You should be real proud of your kill.
I killed an 8-point last year that had a broken leg. I thought I was being real stealthy and all when I " snuck" up on him with my bow. And here he couldn' t get away if he wanted to.
My family is all hunters and every one of them points out that I wouldn' t have gotten a deer if it didn' t have a broken leg. They all have a good laugh. Truth be told it' s hard to defend yourself when the jokes start flying. My aunt gave me a plaque on Christmas that had a plastic deer on it with the back leg broken off.
But, in my heart I know I did the right thing and it makes me feel good - and that' s all that matters. Crippled deer taste the same as healthy deer, too.[&:]

That was a figurative " cry" not literal.
All I' m saying is be proud of the deer, despite whatever non-ideal situation you took it under. I had a buddy shoot a piebald in late archery after stalking up on it, only to realize that it was starving to death, from having its jaw blown off from rifle season.
