I thought I would share a picture of my first antlered buck! The picture quality is bad since I took it with my camera phone in bright light.

I got this 7 pointer on opening morning of Illinios Shotgun season in southern Illinois. I set a pop-up tent style camo ground blind up along a rub line that paralleled a river bottom. I set up a doe decoy and some estrus scents about 30 yards from my blind. This 7 point came from upwind of my decoy and was within 3 feet of my blind at one point.

Notice the split tine on his right antler that stunted the growth of that entire antler. My friend Philbert8 said that this buck is a lot like me - bigger than average and has a lot of character - what a good guy!

I set up in the same blind the next day with a .45 magnum and a 10-12 point walked in on the same path upwind but ran like mad when he heard me pull the hammer back. It was a great weekend!!!

That' s why I plan on replacing my .44mag with a hammerless pistol (savage striker) last year the same thing happened to me.
See big buck, grab hammer -" Ka-Klink" - up goes the tail[]!!
