Fawn Distress
Does anyone have experience on the fawn distress call? I was watching TV and the guy used one. A couple of does and different times came running into bow range. I was wondering how realistic that was and what time of year does that work? I would think that would work (if at all) during the early part of the bow season.

From what I understand...
Early part of season is best for the fawn distress call but it will make any doe who comes very nervous and edgy. She will probably just string so aim a couple inches high.
I had recommended earlier on another thread that someone might use the fawn distress to bring in both a doe and her tending buck because where she goes / he goes. Although I have not tried it yet.

Yeah, I' ve played around with one quite a bit. Ever since I saw one of the early Primos videos showing a couple kids using one...
It' s got to be early season. Around here, in Southeastern Missouri/Illinois, it' s almost too late to use by October 1st. I' ve had very good luck in pulling does in with them before the season starts (July or so), but later than that -- again, for our area -- the fawns are bigger and they aren' t producing the maternal instinct from their mothers that they did when they were babies.
In regards to using a distress call to lure away a tending buck, I saw that suggestion on the other thread, but didn' t say anything. In my opinion, based on these findings, that simply wouldn' t work. It' s too late in the season.
