Kegei I shot a buck and entered it in a contest and it was 16 pt that was 239# and the next two top places were a little bit more pounds but less points. that contest is just for archers. but all the gun contests that the people have entered in have been over 230 pounds. and all the deer that has been reg. here in northern MN> have been running about 10 to 20 pounds heavier than last year. I have been video taping on my property. since last year and I have about alomst at least 6 to 8 bucks that were about 0ver 220 pounds. We have had several good winters lately and more and more people have been doing food plots and this is just my opinion but the northern bucks are generaly bigger due to the fact that we are colder than southern MN. The more north you go the bigger that they get. Look at the bucks in Canada. But also take in consideration that the northern deer are more of a big woods deer that mainly feed in the woods and back yards. the Southern deer of our State,IMO is more considered farm deer that feed in the fields. thats mainly why they have been bigger due to the fact that they have abundance of corn, bean, and hay fields to eat in. And also I think that Northern MN on average has less hunting pressure compared to the south. So they have more of a chance to get bigger.Like I said its just my opinion.
