buck shot

RE: buck shot
That depends on where and how you will be hunting. In the right situation buck shot can be extremely effective at harvesting deer.
In thick brushy areas where a quick shot will be needed and will likley be very close then buck shot works very well.
If you will need to shoot much past 40 yards a slug or rifle of some sort would be a better option.

RE: buck shot
IMO only for CLOSE ( 40yds or less) deer shots out of a choke that puts the load in a 20" patteren at the max range you will shoot.
A slug is better , more accurate and has a higher energy transfer so quicker cleaner kills.
Buck shot for running deer = lost ,wounded deer lots of the time.
4 buck is a great yote load.

Mattisbob,
Liek bigbulls said it depends where you hunt..thick cover where your shots will not be past 50 yards buckshot is deadly..out past that i would invest in a slug gun...if you do choose buckshot make sure you take time to pattern your gun with different chokes/loads...the distance that you can put 6-7 pellets of 00 or a few more of #1 in a 12" pie plate is the cut off diatnce...usually like jonch and bigbulls said around 40 yards or so...but past that you should look into a nice slug gun setup with a scope...good luck with whichever you choose
