Has anyone heard about a 400lb buck shot near Henning, MN? I heard on the local radio station that someone shot a buck weighing 404lbs. I haven' t heard any more about it. I think if a buck that big was shot everyone would be talking. Any news?

No, but I think it' s possible. I did see in the recent Outdoor News that a guy took a buck that is 15 points, 30 inch spread, 29.5 inch main beams, 11 inch brow tines. It' s a hawg.

I know the state record is around 480lbs. The biggest buck I remember ever coming out of the area I hunt is 318lbs.

This IS live weight I assume?

I' m not sure. I was hoping someone who knew about it would see this post. I think it would be dressed weight, but I don' t know.

I didnt see any thing about it in the outdoor news today. I would think that there would be something in there about it , unless it was too late to make the paper. I work with a guy that says that one of the guys in his party shot a 14 pointer over by Chatfield Mn. that will score in the 220 range. That was last weeekend, and I didnt see anything about that either.

Did the hunter responsible make sure to get his foot off the scale before taking an " official" weight?

That definitely is one big deer. I cannot even picture what that would look like in my mind.

Are we talking whitetails here? Sounds a bit big, but the truth will be revealed eventually one way or the other.
