Like Jeff said...doe that dress out at 160 is probably a lie. I would say that most if not all 2 1/2 year old bucks here don' t dress out at 160. Maybe 3 1/2 do. The buck I shot in Canada this year dressed out at 230 and man was that thing a brute.

The buck I shot in Ks was big. How big ? I took the neck, both shoulders and hams to a meat processor. I had the backstraps and tenderloin and ribs. After the butcher deboned them, he had 80 pounds of meat ! That was pretty big dear.

We always weigh our deer on live weight. I' ve killed a few that topped 200lbs live, the biggest was 7 1/2 year old brute that was so long he wouldn' t fit on scales, with his antlers and head still on the ground he was at 230#' s, I would say most of our 3 1/2 year olds would dress weigh around 160 lbs.
I have personally seen a doe at 208 lb live weight.

One of the guys that hangs around a couple of these boards shot a doe that weighed 184 pounds dressed in NY last year. He had it weighed and the game warden even came to see it when he heard how big it was. What was is name???? I believe he worked at Dicks or someone like that. Moved up from down south.

I hunt both southern and northern WI. I have no idea what fawns weigh but I have seen most does dress at 100-120 lbs. 1 1/2 yr old bucks dress at 130-145 lbs. Here are some bucks I shot at dressed weight: (5)2 1/2 yr old post rut bucks - 160 lbs avg, 3 1/2 yr old post rut buck - 185 lbs, 4 1/2 yr old post rut buck - 190 lbs, 4 1/2 yr old pre-rut buck - 215 lbs(approx.). The last one weighed 260 lbs on the hoof but I didn' t have help to re-weigh him dressed. He wasn' t long like some of the really heavy bucks but he was very stocky. The base of his neck was 24" .
It seems like people confuse live and dressed weight quite often. A buck with a fully swollen neck is very deceiving also. I have personally seen two bucks that dressed very close to 250 lbs. They look more like steers at that size than whitetails, its pretty cool.

We have contests in my area of central Minnesota every year. The biggest doe is usually right around 150 and the biggest buck is around 240. Any doe over 160 dressed is almost unheard of.
My Uncle about 15 years ago shot a buck that weighed 265 after hanging for 5 days. They figure the live weight was well over 300, that' s a big som bitch!

Why would you weigh them with all the guts in. Me personally I want the entrials out of the carcass asap!
We have a " skinning rack" at our deer camp, it' s easier and much cleaner. Lights, running water, pulleys, meat saw, etc.

thanks, that makes more sense now. Didnt mean for it to come off the way it did but have seen some weird stuff since I moved to this part of the state. I took my deer to my buddy to process it and helped him hang another buck up, the guy that brought him in didnt even do anything around the butt area to remove anythign, stil had all that intact....weirdest thing I ever seen, he has been processing for 2 years in this area and said he sees alot of them like that. We both moved here from the same area as we worked and still work together at a new prison in this area.
