I hunted Adams county this weekend (just north of Pike). I saw a MONSTER buck Friday night at 11:00 as I drove into our camp. Needless to say I had good dreams all weekend. The buck was with a group of 5 does. I did not see ANY chasing activity. I am seeing lots of scrapes. I saw some small bucks moving in the 8:00-9:00 time-frames and again after 3:30 in the afternoon. The deer do not seem to be moving much during the day. I' m sure the hot weather is hurting. Looking forward to colder weather.

Sorry its slow up there, but down here they are going ape. Chasing, grunting, fighting, and moving till around 1pm. I am hunting in Pope County and Jackson County. Jackson County they have only started to chase, no grunting, and no fighting. A buddy of mine and I found a Honey hole with about a dozen P&Y bucks. I could not get a shot off at a 148" + symmetrical 8pt' r never a good angle or he went behind trees. (Biggest deer I have ever seen on hoof) My buddy saw two one nontypical with about 15 pts chasing does, to far to get a shot off. Then saw a 9 pt' r that would go about 130" , but winded him and took off before he could get drawn on him.
Hope your luck improves and mine too...

Sounds like some good hunting down south. Here in Montgomery county I haven' t see much chasing yet. Saw a little 6 run after some does last weekend. Then saw that 6 and another 6 feeding in a feed with a doe Saturday morning. Watched two big bucks feed with a couple does last night in a field. They showed no agression towards each other nor any interest in the does. Kinda weird for this time of year. Forcasts are calling for much cooler temps by the end of the week. That should get them moving alot more and I think those of us that haven' t seen anything big will start seeing much more action!

I don' t know what your deer are smoking, but I' ve seen a lot of activity in JoDaviess county this past weekend.
Sat night heard 2 bucks grunting and chasing does, rattled in a nice buck, looked to be about a 130-140 class 8 pt, and then watched a 140-145 class 9 pt follow a doe 60 yards from my stand and make at least 4 rubs. The guys I was hunting with also saw a couple smaller bucks running does back and forth by their stands as well.
Sunday it rained all day but my dad saw what he assured me was a 190-200 class 10 pointer. He guestimated 30" + spread and 20" + G2s. He said the thing just looked like an elk. We walked to where he saw the buck and the tracks honestly look like they were made by a cow! This deer has to be pushing 350 lbs without a problem, if not more.
