Is there a difference in distance or arrow flight?

it is all what shoots best for you and what you like.

i find that the helical twist in my vanes allows for better rotation and better accuracy. this may not be the case in your situation. i have also found that my broadheads tend to fly better with the helical vanes.

get a couple arrows fletched both ways and tryum to see what you like

The sooner and faster you get an arrow to rotate/spin right out of the bow, the better stabilization of the arrow you will have. Helical fletch helps with this as does offsetting fletch. Many times fixed blade shooters have a hard time stopping an arrow from planing. If the arrow/bow is well tuned, the other answer would be helical or a more substantial fletch. Size of fletch and material also are variables in the equation. Feathers drag more air than does vanes.
