Thanks for the advise!
One thing I want to make clear I am NOT looking for sympathy just tring other means to help myself.
I am on meds and they work to a degree and most times they quit and the changing starts until we find something that works.
Also thanks for the prayers!

okuma - I feel for you and can relate (not personally, but with a family member) so I know Exactly what you go through, have gone through, and hopefully will go through.
First let me start off by saying I hope in your first response you meant a "Psychiatrist (doctor who prescribes medicine)" and not a "physicists" or a physician (regular doctor, not a specialist). Having a "phycologist" is good and can help, but in my experience and my knowledge as a Scientist I can tell you that it will not fix your problems. If it has been 7 years and you still have no "peace" during those down times than you are not on the right med's. I know how hard it is switching med's constantly, but I can tell you that in the end when you find the right combo to combat your disorders it will be well worth it. Suicide is never the answer, ever. There is a right combination of med's out there to help with all of your disorders. Also, all the disorders you listed (BiPolar, OCD, and anxiety are very tough to get the meds right do to there functions and chemical make-up. IMO opinion, and only because my family member has those exact three conditions, finding the perfect set of med's is very, very tough....but you can find med's that will help much more than what you are taking now if you can't get peace during the down time while hunting...those constant thoughts can be controlled some what)
Something I have found works for my family member is music...granite it is not something most do while hunting...but while you are in the stand you can play some of your favorite songs quietly while you wait to see a deer. Reading, playing games, etc. I don't think would help as it causes you to "think" and thus will and can lead to those "constant bad thoughts"....so music, IMO would be your best bet.
If you ever need someone to talk to I would be more than happy...shoot me a PM.
Take Care

I can relate to what you just wrote abut the suicide thought while out gun hunting. I too am guilty of the thought, and did put the rifle to the bottom of my chin. I found God at a later stage in life and have been able to make the most of my sits among the branches of the trees up here while bow hunting. I some time have all day sits while out during the rut and spend a lot of the time talking and praying to God. I one day can visualize our God sitting on a branch next to me and having a conversation to one another. Not trying to preach here, but that is what's in my heart. When I find my self praying amongst the branches ,I find time fly's by and I can do what I need to do most while bowhunting, that's paying attention to sounds surrounding my location. Hope this helps, God Bless.

I know to a very small extent what your going through, my brother has a brain tumor that causes him to have seizures and he is limited to what he can do and he is very antsy, gets upset easily etc. but you could do as reds said im sure there are even guys in your area on the forum or even friends of yours who would love to do things like this i mean even going out with my dad or whoever and hanging a new set at a farm or going out back and fligin a few arrow right before the season gets me fired up. like my uncle always says... "its all about who you know"
hope this helps... hit me up if there is any misunderstanding about what i said or anything else

Hi, I Can understand your torment I suffer from P.T.S.D old war wounds as they say and I know that the gremlins hop into the old scull when they see a slight opening which feels like all the time. But as they say the light at the end of the tunnel for you is that you recognise the problem that you have so you will be able to deal with it. you are a hunter and if there is one thing a hunter has is patience and an understanding of his or her prey so what I do and it is by no means easy I treat my symtom as I would on a hunt I do not fight it but try to understand it and therefore become the hunter once again instead of the hunted. I am not going to patrinise you by saying all will be well and you will see the light, what I am trying to say is that use it to your advantage and focus on who you want to be and then visulise that person in front of you then step into that picture and leave the crap behind. Now this takes a bit of pratice but it does work and through time you get better at it and can focus only on the good things in your life and bin the negative. I do hope you understand what I am trying to say but speaking from Scotland it may be lost in translation some where, ( little joke there I know it is bad but it is 04:13 over here) anyway keep sucking the air and enjoy the countryside that is your door to escape into. Regards The Black Maguire

Oofta, this Is a tough one here! 1st of all keep up the good spirits, you've got yourself kids that look up to their dad every day. As for the hunting part- If I was you I'd try doing more spot and stalk hunting. It's exciting and your always on the look out.
Best of luck with everything, I really feel for ya.

This is not the religious forum.. or the shrink forum. You're asking questions to the wrong people in the wrong place. It's simple.. you don't like it... don't do it. If you want help on stand placement or equipment or something along those lines... this is the forum. You want help with your mind, a kidney, a bowel movement question... this is not the place.
