Mathews...all hype?

They are great bow. So are some other brands. Are they over priced ? I think so but so are some others. So are broadheads that cost 15 dollars each. As long as there's a market for the "I gotta have the best of everything" crowd then we will see the high price items. I have a Mathews Q2 I bought in 2002 and still love it. I don't see me needing anything else for a very long time.

As mentioned, Mathews does far more to promote the sport and pays far more money out to shooters than nearly ALL other manufacturers combined, that's a feat that truly needs to be respected, regardless of what any of us think about their rigs. Also, the reason that most Pro shooters choose Mathews in indeed their HUGE pay-outs! If you win a major event using a Mathews, you're getting a sweet pay day!!! It's a no brainer that when you shoot for a living... do you want a $5,000 paycheck if ya win or a $20,000 check for winning the same event shooting a Mathews.
Concerning the unit price, they are right in line with other companies top rigs, take a look at BowTechs, Hoyts, etc. Also, you can clearly see the difference in these higher priced bows compared to cheaper rigs.... look at the fit and finish of all componets and accessories on the Big 3 (Mathews, BowTech, Hoyt) compared to cheaper bow manufacturers like Darton, Pearson, Bear, etc., and whoever else? You get what you pay for.... no different that with all of our bowhunting accessories these days.

It's just like shoes, some fit better than others. I've shot every mathews from the Outback till the Dren. NONE felt good to me. Not to say they are poor products, they just don't fit ME. The people they do fit tend to fall in love with them and not consider any other bow, kinda like Hoyt shooters, PSE shooters, ETC.

I like how you start out by saying that you don't want to start a fight when that's exactly what you're looking to do. Mathews has plenty of bows that are under $800.00 but not thier top end line. Nowadays you can't hardly any company's top end bow for under $800.00. Does Mathews advertise alot sure but that makes me wonder where other bow company's money is going when thier advertising budget is muck less than Mathews but thier bows are just as expensive.

The first bow I bought was an AR-32 (Archery Research). I finish at the top of some shooting leagues. I shoot deer no problem.
I think it all comes down to what sticker some people want to put on the back of their truck.
One reason I would buy Mathews is because they are based out of a town (Sparta, WI) that is 20 minutes from me.

I've never personally owned a Mathews and probably won't anywhere in the near future. I shoot all of them each year, just to see what they have and quite frankly, I believe they're going backwards. At one point, I almost thought about buying a Switchback. IMO, that was one of their better models.
That said, Mathews is a marketing machine and they sell a ton of bows each year. I have to wonder if a lot of them are buying the name and not the bow.
Mathews does a ton for this sport and they put a lot back into it in donations. For that, I commend them and respect what they do.

All of the current bow manufactures make a great product... shoot them all... Some people are more comfortable w/ certain bows... whatever feels the best is what you should shoot. All of the "big" bow manufacturers have alot of hype and they deserve it... they are all great bow companies...
I personally prefer Mathews over the rest... just a personal feeling. I have a buddy who loves the new PSE line and another who will only own a Bowtech. All good.

If you take a look at the newer high end bows they are all expensive and in the same price range. Mathews does make a nice bow but a Bowtech feels better in my hands. I would like to see Mathews move to a grip similar to Bowtech's, I think they would sell a lot more bows.

Hype? No...hype is something that fizzles out in a short amount of time. I don't see Mathews going anywhere anytime soon. There are basically "the Big 3" BowTech, Hoyt, and Mathews,. It's kinda like fishing, most people fish for Bass, Crappie, and Catfish while there are a few that prefer Bluegill (PSE) Carp (Parker) Walleye (Browning) etc etc etc.
Its the way its always been with products. Nike, Reebok or New Balance? Remington, Winchester, or Browning? Ford, Chevy or Dodge? McDonalds, BK, or Wendys?
I don't know why people are so hung up about what people shoot, or why they pay so much $$$ for this and that? The good thing is there are enough bow companies, arrow companies, broadhead companies that you can find the one YOU like and leave everyone else out of it, why does it matter that you don't like a certain product line so much that you have to make it known with a thread about it?
