I live where I hunt deer and get to see lots of deer from my living room. I too have seen more deer this spring than usual, too bad I didn' t see this many during the season last fall[:@]. I seen one buck last Saturday evening about 100 yards from the house that was already the width of his ears and had 3 points on each side and 3 to 4 inches tall[] The camera might have to go out a little early this year! If I' d have been thinking straight, I would have grabbed my Sony Mavica FD95 and " shot" him with the 20 power lense[:' (] I guess I had an early bout with buck fever when I saw him through my 10X50 Redfields Scout Hard!!

HES BACK!!! last year i saw a 10 point late in the season, and went out hunting for him. Hes the smartest deer ive seen around here. I never did get him last year. BUT I SAW HIM LAST NIGHT!! last evening around 8:00 i decided to go up the road and go check the fields on the farm. After i got out there a ways i saw a few deer walkin in the cow path in one of our fields. Next thing i know HE comes up over the hill. His horns are above his ears already. I know its him cause he used to walk that path all the time. Looks like this will be a good year!!!

The deer around are growing well, a few pictures of small bucks with 4 or 5 inches of antler, maybe starting to fork. Another buck with eyeguards and first points about ear wide, hope he keeps growing, maybe he will be big enough this year. Havent got any pictures of the big boys from last year, but Ill find them before long; I hope.

David and Len, heres the report for southern Maryland. I was really worried about winterkill because we had the deepest snow on the ground for the longest time any deer had ever seen even if it was 10 years old.

This turkey season that just ended I swept thru thousands of acres of property and walked miles. Saw deer all over the place, every time I went out. Only found one dead doe that was a skeleton, probably been dead since last fall not a winterkill. The deer heard is in great shape and we are getting lots of deer hit by cars down here.

As for my garden I am going to have to get a crop damage permit to protect my tomato plants.

Out in Western MD (Garrett Co.) there were dead deer all over the woods that died during the huge snowstorm--I saw 6 that were in a space as small an an average kitchen--they appeared to have bedded and never got up. However, the numbers of living deer there was just as impressive. Herds of 30-50 were everywhere at all hours of the day.

In my yard, I' m seeing deer regularly already. Usually it' s later in the summer before they show up in numbers. A few weeks ago, there was a group of 3 with-in 50 feet of the house and one had a rack just beginning to fork.

Deer numbers in Kentucky appear to be down for the eastern part but we should have some real nice quality with all that I let walk last year. Poaching is still our biggest deer problem.
