When I do shoot a P&Y deer the only one' s I care about are going to be the ones that know....Plus saving my money that it cost to put it in their book....You really think a guy reading it on the toilet is going know who I am and care.......I didnt think so........I hope we all get one this year...

Lilhunter, I don' t hunt with a bow that has 65% let off so I know that it would not get enterd in the first place. If I really cared what the club had to say about I would be hunting within their club rules.

i' m a hunter thats what i like to do. it don' t bother me to come home with a deer or elk or nothing at all. when i get a elk deer or whatever i earned it i hunted it found it myself NO GUIDES just me new area have to hunt it to find GAME by myself its called hunting thats what i like to do.a lot of elk and deer in the gloat books are from people that had GUIDES its like hiring a hunter to find your game. they are not true hunters to me they only become shooters .and these type of people will be the first to enter there HUNTED game in the gloat books. like i said before i will not enter my bucks in the gloat books and be listed with a bunch of shooters. i' m a HUNTER thats what i like to do. just my opinon and nobody else

Everyone keeps saying they need to draw the line somewhere but wouldn' t it make more since to seperate the classes.

Traditional(long bows and recurves)
Compounds(any compound)
crossbow(where allowed and medical reasons)

Makes since to me.Maybe they don' t want the hassle of trying to redue the old records.

I personally don' t care what their rules are.I will use Buckmaster to score anything I kill.Just a better system IMO.And yes I do use 65% letoff, because they are more accurate for me.I might let someone local score P&Y but I will not have it put in their book.

Good question Bogobble and yes my bow is P&Y legal as my moduals with my TRX came with a 75% and had them changed out to 65% moduals in order to qualify for P&Y, and yes I am glad they have guidelines and restrictions on how the game is taken. If a person cannot harvest game under these guidelines then you can enter it in the B&C, where they accept road kills. I talked to a scorer this past year for P&Y and he said the secret in qualifying for a P&Y with a 75% let off bow is when you pull back, don' t pull back all the way and then your within the 65% perameter. (Loop hole in the system.)
Selway, I think there is a lot of difference between 65% and 80 especially when you have to hold a bow back for an extended period of time when a critter comes in on you.
Bigbulls, according to my lastest edition of the P&Y book, it credits the hunter and the score of the animal and location of harvest. I would like to have my name in that book and that is maybe my goal with white-tail as it would be above 175 inches.
Tfox, these are the rules, guidelines established to draw a line somewhere in the sand because where would it ever end? I work to hard in hunting a trophy animal to meet the guidelines by P&Y and then have some individual that has a handicap sticker and is allowed to hunt with a crossbow. They would give them stickers out just like the handicapp parking permits.

121553, If they are in a completely different catagory, then why would you care.So you are saying the handicap don' t have the right to have a deer in P&Y.I don' t think they should have the same guidelines but having their own is completely ok by me.It is already very easy to get a crossbow permit.Just about any doctor will write the permit, if you say your elbow hurts.I don' t think that would change.

It doesn' t matter because they won' t change.I really don' t care, one way or the other.

I am not a member of this club but hope maybe one day...? To me there has to be some control over regulations on an elite club such as this. To be good enough to take a deer with a bow is an accomplishment but... to take a rack big enough to list in record books!!! Maybe someone (a member) could e-mail the question or request an explanation for this ruling and also find out if maybe they would consider a class with 70% and above rated let-off bows?
Also what do they do if your bow adjusts from 65-80% let off???
Just wondering???[:-]

Whether you care for Pope and Young is irrelevant. What is relavant is Pope and Young established a club for bowhunters, promoted bowhunting and played a big role is making what bowhunting is today. Ask the majority of bowhunters who judge a buck they are hunting and they will say it is a so and so score rackwise. That score they base on is from Pope n Young.

Nobody has ever given me a logical answer as to why Pope and Young should change their rules according to what the manufacturers develop.

Some think their is little difference between 65% and 80%.............LMAO. Big difference in holding weight, speed and recoil. Those of you who are spoiled by shooting and 80% letoff bow should try hunting with 50% as was the standard not long ago for compounds or shoot a stickbow.

If we wanted to start our own club for bows with anything over 65% we could because it would be our club and our rules--POPE AND YOUNG HAS THEIR OWN RULES THAT WE EITHER ABIDE BY TO ENTER A TROPHY--OR WE DON' T GET ENTERED--THAT' S THE RULES!
