P&Y and 65% let off?
I heard they decided to keep it at 65%. I know it' s their club and they should be allowed to make the rules, but it' s not that much difference in 65% letoff and 75% as far as holdin weight. I doubt I' ll ever even see a P&Y deer much less kill one, so it don' t matter to me.
do ya' ll make sure your bows are P&Y legal when you buy them, and do you think they should have changed it to 75 or 80% , or, or you glad they kept it at 65%? |
RE: P&Y and 65% let off?
I bought my Q2 with 65 % let-off in anticipation for the PY book. I' m like you, I don' t know if I' ll ever shoot a book buck, but if I do I want it entered. That' s why I don' t hunt with a lighted sight too.

RE: P&Y and 65% let off?
Bg,
Shooting a stick to a fiberglassed bow isnt much different from eachother.... Shooting fiberglass to an old compound wasnt much different either.... Heck shooting old compound to a new compound isnt a hole lot different either...... I' ll even jump on this one, Shooting a new deck out compound release and all isnt a hole lot different then shooting a Xbow! Someone had to draw the line where bow hunting stays bowhunting. I am glad someone has done it!!! |
RE: P&Y and 65% let off?
i dont care where its at....ive seen p&ys before...never bowhunted so havent shot any or anything...and never see them in rifle season but know they are out there..im just to impatient come rifle season....the main reason im going to bow hunt is to take trophy bucks....maybe not all the time but i will have a better chance in the fall then winter when 1million guys are after them....you know my bow will be 65% let off.....no way will i take a chance....you never know when that record will walk out and you have a 80% let off...the most you will be recognized is like all the other bucks the last few years that had that problem....everyone talking about it.....then it all fades and barely remembered.....i like to work for my game and if i take one big enough for the books i want it to be remembered...and i agree with lilhunter..they had to draw the line somewhere...why not just allow cross bows if you can allow 80% let off? why not just allow anything killed with any bow of any type?? its BOW hunting....its made to be simple and challenging...look at long bows....nothing but a stick and string...thats just my thoughts.....

RE: P&Y and 65% let off?
All my bows are P&Y legal. 65% let off is fine by me. I actually prefer the feel of a 65% let off bow to say an 80% one. I also agree that it' s their club(P&Y) so they can make the rules.

RE: P&Y and 65% let off?
i just wonder who pope and young are. i would think the members would make the rules most people shoot a 80 percent letoff anyway. i realy don' t see any differants in 80 percent letoff and 65 . but there is a big differants in 0 percent letoff and 65 percent letoff. i wouldn' t bother entering any off my bucks in a gloat club anyway.

RE: P&Y and 65% let off?
I really don' t care if my bows are p&y legal if i harvest a record book buck i don' t need no club to tell me its a trophy, any animal i harvest is a trophy to me.

RE: P&Y and 65% let off?
If I ever shot a world record elk I could really care less what P&Y have to say about it. I know that I did the work and put in the time it required to take that animal.:)[:-]It' s a trophy because it' s a magnificent animal wether P&Y wants to list it or not.
The tool that I used to take the animal should make no differance in wether the animal gets listed or not. The record books are suppose to be about the animals and not about the hunters. With this rule they are basically giving praise to the person that shot it and not to the magnificent animal that it was. [:' (] P&Y can kiss my arse!!!![:o] |
RE: P&Y and 65% let off?
thats interesting bb, till ya shoot one! Then it will be another wr dq case all over again!
Also you need to look back when the club was started and their " mission statement" . Not how people view the P&Y club today! The reason they are their, and what they are doing. I have high regards for the club and their direction and what they do. Its a shame to see a bowhunter slamming the one club that gave the majority of the bowhunting community some kind of direction!
