There Illegal In Minnesota too, there all over hell and no one seems to care. I don't care for them myself but I'm not about to tear down someone's stupid house In the woods, I've got better things to do like hunt. It's actually Illegal to use screw In tree steps as well around here on some of the state forest's, that one still puzzles me!

Is there any laws in Kansas prohibiting a person fromdestroyingor removing illegal stands? Below is a response to a similar question that I pulled of the MDNR website. Hope this helps.
"Although these stands are illegal, due to potential liability issues, I would not give anyone "carte blanche" authority to remove or destroy stands.
I would suggest that a person wanting to act on their own initiative to remove abandoned tree stands from state lands, similar to a person acting upon their own initiative to clean-up littered sites on state property, first contact the local land administrator at the nearest DNR office to make the property manager aware of the clean-up activities. There is no criminal law which would prohibit a person from engaging in this activity".

is it new? i hunt on some public corps of eng. land here in texas and find some old stands that are in really bad shape. it may be nothing to worry about. if not, i wouldn't mess with it. if someone is hunting from it, they could just as easily be hunting from a non perm. one or even a grould blind. just hunt far enough away as you would anyone else you came across. you might gps the location and turn it in after your done hunting. I'd use it to your advantage. assume you are a better hunter then whoever will be init and place your stand where the deer will travel to get around him (you could add some of your own smelly something near or on the stand just to make sure)

well before this morning i would say trash it. But i had half my stand stolen. I would tell the right people. And inform them that you would be happy to remove it so they do not disturb the area. Or just forget about it

I wouldn't do anything. Big deal. It's a stand. Granted it's nailed to the tree in violation of state law, but this is a minor infraction really. Using the logic of calling the authorities about something as trivial as this is akin to turning in every guy you see who is drivingfive MPH over the speed limit. My guess is that you'd feel the same way even if the stand wasn't nailed to the tree. None of us like finding a stand in an area we want to hunt.
