Probably a bit to steep for the majority of my properties. But it fuels my fire, plus they are self imposed and able to be amended in a momenst notice.

I look for a deer thats an 8pt or better and at least as wide as his ears. Age/score really don't play into the decision for me. I hope for a 140+, and ate my tag last year looking for one.

My buck standard is whether I am willing to have it mounted. I have a pile of antlers in the corner of the basement. They are pretty much useless. If the deer is allowed to get older, he will generally get bigger. I prefer to have antlers on the wall. I also hold the guys that hunt my ground to the same standard. First time deer are a different story. Everyone is entitled to get one down no matter what the size.

So, it has to be one for the wall or it walks by me. Wounded or poor quality bucks are a different story. I will put them out of their misery.

I've letone 135-140, 125, spike bull and several cows pass so far this season...all well within bow range. The 135-140 buck may bite the big one if he comes by again, He was a great looking 4x4.

I've gotten to the point where I try to shoot only bucks that are2 1/2 or over, but will whack any if the mood strikes me and just about any doe is fair game in my book. To each his own.
