I try and make sure they are atleast 4.5 years old or older, I passed on several 120" to 135" bucks even a couple pushing the 140' mark this year because they werent old enough. I messed up and shot a 3.5 year old 10pt with my shotgun this year. I was pretty bummed thought he was alot bigger than he ended up being. Guess that happens when you only get a few glimpses of them. He ended up scoring 132". I did take out several does this year, all does are fair game to me. Have to get the buck to doe ratio in check.

I have limited my self to 3.5 years and older that age bracket will normally put my in the p&y book in my area of Ohio.

This season does only for meat and to help thin the herd. No bucks unless he is 4.5 this year. The buck/doe ratio is badly out of kilter in my area this season.....too many bucks(mostly young) were taken out during firearm season.
