Ted Shanks CA on the Northeast side of the state has been good to few of my friends. They take a john boat along and hit a few islands out there. Noone else on the islands. And they have killed a few nice deer there too.

My advise is to hang near the IA border where there is lots of cropland and gr8 genetics. Morthern MO is the same as IA basically..except that MO has gun season during the rut which is abig mistake IMO for allowing deer to reach maturity. I have been hunting in Scotland county and there are some gr8 bucks in that county..most land is private or leased though...I imagine you can coffee shop it and gain some permission witrh some manners.
