I was wondering if the pre-rut is onin MO. We had a good frost here in the Northwest.

What have you been seeing and what has been working for you?

Yep it seems to be on. I missed a chance on a nice 8 pointer
Saturday evening. He was chasing a doe, they were by my
stand before I could get a shot. Monday night, different place, had
a nice doe that was being dogged by a couple of small bucks until
a nice 8 pointer chased them off. He is now at the taxidermist

I believe we are seeing the early phases of the chase phase. Are there any does ready yet, maybe, but more than likely its the bucks that are more than ready. I think this is the weekend to pull out all the goods. Great time to rattle, decoy, grunt, can, the whole thing.

Just like I posted in another thread, sit all day!

Good Luck

A good friend who I hunt with a lot called me yesterday,, and said he rattled in 4 different bucks yesterday morning, over about a 45 minute period. They were all small bucks the biggest a basket racked 8 so he passed on all of them, he rattled a 130 class in the same tree almost a week ago but missed it. They seem to be responding to calls, but I havent had any luck yet.

Guy I hunt with on my lease said he watched a buck breed a doe last night. So from here on out it should be prime time.

Wow, that is a very rare thing to see in the wild. Especially this early.
