I shoot XX78' s and love them. It' s really up to you. This debate has been beat to death, and it ultimately comes down to shot placement anyhow, no matter what you choose. As far as the charts go, they are not totally written in stone....but a very good guide where to start. If it says 2219, then yes you " probably" could use a 2216 or 2315, which are lighter but still plenty stiff. It really depends on your setup, draw length, arrow lenght, etc. Good luck

I used alums for years and just switched to carbons last season. I am very satisified with the carbons performance so far. What I like most is their durability.
I shoot Carbon Express CX Hunter (camo). Wt. wise these seem to be middle of the road at 9.4 gpi. Go to the web site www.thegametracker.com to see a wide variety Carbon Express arrows from 8 gpi to 12 gpi. For deer hunting, 8 gpi is the lightest I will go.
Also, in the March 2003 issue of Petersons Bowhunting Magazine, their is a good article on carbon arrows.
