Default acorns and deer?

Just a question about deer and acorns. Does anyone know if deer actually pop the hats off acorns before eating? Ive been noticing lots of acorn hats around freshly popped. Ive also noticed quite a few tracks around them????? thanks....

I would think they don't try to pop them off. just happens when the bite down IMO. But sounds like a place to hang a stand and see.

Yes. I didn't know this until a couple of years ago when I watched a doe and fawn feeding on an oak flat for about an hour one morning. I could hear them "popping" the acorns as they ate, but once I figured out they were going to mill around at about 60 yards for quite awhile, I put my bow down and really started watching them....the pop was them crunching the acorns and it was followed shortly by the caps falling out the corners of their mouths. That was a really cool thing to see.
