I have a lot of Water, Live, and Turkey oak trees around the property that I hunt. I know that I have read that deer absolutely love White Oak acorns. I'm just looking at different stand placement options.

In my area of east Texas, they prefer white oak, second favorite is red oak, and will eat water oak last. I jumped a couple of does eating white oak acorns this afternoon that were blown down in hurricane Rita, but I have not seen a single deer eating the water oaks that are on the ground.

I don't think that a deer will pass up any acorns lol. Its like asking me what kind of steak I like, just because filet mignon is my favorite that doesn't mean I'm not going to eat a ribeye if you put one in front of me. That being said I would hunt the biggest supply of acorns closest to the deer's bedding area.

i have found that they like the acorns that have fallen out of the trees already. eating the ones still up in the tress hurts their necks, and they arent skilled climbers
and to answer your question, i have no idea. i dont know what kind i have in my woods, and i have never seent he deer eating them. but the squrrels will run around knocking them all out of the trees and then run around and pick them up. they make alot of noise, but their kind of fun to watch
