Over my years hunting deer, I have shot at 12 deer, harvested 12 deer, and ate 12 deer. I do not harvest more than we will consume. I take from the earth what we will eat and do not go out to shoot animals for the thrill of "killing". Although, when I release the arrow or squeeze the trigger and know the shot is good, there is still that adrenaline rush which adds to the hunt.
Im hoping that wasnt focused towards myself. I dont just kill to kill. All meat i harvest is consumed, every last drop! I love the stuff.

16 kills (less than 3 seasons)......16 recoveries and one "unknown". I can live with that.

PT..here's aquote I like to refer back to when i see threads like this one. It sums up my thoughts better than I could express them.

"The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. Then why do I hunt? I hunt for the same reason my well-fed cat hunts...because I must, because it is in the blood, because I am the descendent of a thousand generations of hunters. I hunt because I am a hunter." - Finn Aagard
I love that quote save where he says he takes no pleasure in the act itself ....how can it be satisfying yet with no pleasure?

I go hunting with the intention of killing something everytime. I don't get up at dark thirty in frigid temps to watch deer, I'm there to hunt them and hopefully kill one.

That what you are looking for PT?[8D]

SIR! STEP AWAY FROM THE BONG!!!
you all know you feel that way ... admit it ...that's why you take a weapon ... that's why EVERYONE wants to shoot the Rage .... the bigger the hole, the better ..... we are enthralled by it ... man up, boys ....admit it

BTW Captain ... anger has nothing to do with it ...... I'm not angry .... maybe it's a dominating thing ....I dunno ....

somebody help me ....[8D]
Not EVERYBODY wants to shoot the Rage. It doesn't kill a deer any deader or fasterthan a Muzzy.

PT, I think I finally got what you wanted everybody to respond. Do you like the kill or not. Personally, I have a moment of guilt run by after the kill.

the actual kill, putting down a deer, is the worst part about hunting for me. it's every other aspect of hunting that i enjoy.
