I am an assistant Pastor .... I teach adult Sunday School ...don't get to preach too much in the church during regular service ...most of my preaching is at the prisons ... or at my teachers ....

I didn't dispute you, Rob. I asked if your current setup would go through the same bone.

The moment I start basing my BH choice on my poor shots......and start touting my BH for it's poor shot capabilites......is a sad day. Ditto the day I start blaming my BH for MY ineptness.

If I was gonna do that (pick a BH based on its poor shot capabilities).....I'd just shoot at anything "brown".....pick my head based on the worst case scenario......and hope for the best.

I've killed enough deer, now....to have seen perfect hits with both.....and not so perfect hits with both (mech's and fixed blade BH's). I picked my current BH based on my past experiences with both.

When I heara hunter exclaim he's against mechanicals....because they won't blow through bone like his fixed blades......let's just say my radar bleeps.
My current setup WILL shoot a muzzy through bone. It will NOT shoot Wasp Jackhammers through the same bone. I have tested them. So, I have chosen my broadhead based on potential poor shot capabilities. BLEEP, BLEEP, BLEEP, BLEEP. (sound of your radar.) Yes, that makes me against mechanicals, not by opinion but by solid experience and fact.By the way, many outfitters and some states wont allow mechanicals on large game. Interesting huh?? The moment you start basing your broadhead choice on its poor shot capabilities is the moment you have become a better archer and a better steward to the sport.HAPPY DAY! Broadheads WILL shoot through heavy bone and many of us have had it happen. You stand corrected, but what do I know after 30 years of bowhunting???????

My current setup
And what is that?

What you're shooting hasnothing to do with what I'm shooting. If my setup was like a lot of others......I wouldn't shoot mechanicals, either.

My sign? Heck I had your same bow.....lol. Great bow. Would I shoot mechanical from it......and expect them to react the same as a fixed blade BH?
No.

You plan your BH choice with "overkill" in mind. I do, too. I just do it with speed and KE. You do it by switching BH types (based on your NEED to do so .....with that setup).

EVERY story is told with a different setup being shot. At some point a BH will go through (either partially or directly) an animal's bone (or...it did, that day....with THAT animal). Would I plan my BH choice for that occurrence? Hell no. You would. Good for you.
