The " Speed Hype" is only " hype" if the bows a pain to shoot. I won' t pick on a particular brand or model, but it becomes " hype" when you need to have a 5-6" brace to get the speed. That' s speed for speeds sake IMO. make it shootable and that' s not Hype...it' s common sense.

" How far do you need to shoot through the deer?" cry the slowpokes....As far as I CAN! I say. All I want to see is Fletch sticking out of the ground on the otherside!

Overkill? Why shoot a deer with a 30.06 or a 7MM when a .22 placed properly will do it? PERCENTAGES!!!! That' s why!

Every hunter will make a mistake sooner or later. If I have the KE to blow through an Buck' s shoulder while wearing a Kevlar vest and still get an Exit....are you kidding? Why wouldn' t you?

Price...some can' t afford the new ultra quick easy shooting bows.
Tradition....there' s a certain beauty to taking game with a traditional rig. I' ll leave these guys alone, they usually shoot better than me anyway.
Ignorance...not condescending here. Many just don' t know the new stuff is so much better shooting and think FAST = hard to shoot.
That' s all I can think of really...me I love KE!

The way i see it what difference dos it make if you use one pin or ten as long as you can hit your mark. It doesnt take much penatration to kill a animal if its hit right. Just have to be a good tracker. I noticed some of you guys are shooting 50 to 60 yrds thats great. MY comfort zone is 30yrds. Thats how i set my stands up.Some day maybe i will be able to shoot that far. Probably not i am a BOWHUNTER not a BOWSHOOTER.

JRW said it as well as it could be said. You were deadly accurate with the old bow, but the mighty Mite is more accurate. Im going to guess Buck that youve become a better shot overall and have more " Confidence" , in the new bow. Has nothing to do with the new bow and its speed. Well maybe it does. Maybe the Mite is tuned better, or your arrows match this bow better, or since you went to a different brand, this d. length is slightly different and fits better. Physics dont lie.Higher brace, longer a.t.a. beats lower and shorter.Bottom line, longer a.t.a, higher brace, vs. short a.t.a. and b.ht.and both bows set up properly and tuned, matched arrows, draw lenght etc., the first bow will group more " Consistantly" better.
Buck it depends on what your idea of more speed is. I look at middle of the line as 250 to 260.If you can gain 20 f.p.s., with the same basic setup its a no brainer. Thats doable. Fast to me is over 300, and 330 is screamin. Now in order to gain that speed, lets say, 50 f.p.s., you have to give up b.h., draw cycle smoothness, and almost always a.t.a. length. Anyone who tells me they can shoot a bow with a b.h. roughly an inch and a half to two inches less, plus four to six inches less in a.t.a. more accurately overall is a lying doggy. Not if both are set up properly. They may be able to kid themselves, and overall shoot the bow to what they consider a great deal of accuracy, and the bow may indeed feel better in their hand, and be less shocky, but the physics of the deal dont lie. In fact as there telling me this, that they gained 50 f.p.s.,with no loss in accuracy, Im gonna quickly step to the side, so as their nose grows, hopefully it wont poke my eye out.

What I do see, however, is folks rushing to the pro-shops to buy this year' s latest & greatest models for that extra 10 or so fps...throwing all else to the wind. When I think of what makes a great bow, speed is pretty far down on the list. For others, it' s the be-all end-all of archery...and that' s fine really. I suppose it keeps a lot of bow manufacturers in business every year.

I couldn' t agree more JRW! That is where speed hurts! I see it everyday.

Speed is great to a point - I like other features more. exaples are a smooth draw, easy to tune, queit. I have found that fixed blade broadheads can be shot up to speeds of 300fps but it gets real critical to get them tuned sometimes. when I just backed down to around 280-285 it is much easier to get fixed blade heads to fly great. When it comes to hunting - accuracy is always number one in my book and if that means backing the speed down a bit to get it then the speed has to go!

Buck- Unless bow x is 15yrs old and bow y is brand new, you will not find the same qualities such as forgiveness, smoothness, quite shooter, etc. A BK2 will not be as smooth or quite as say a Legacy or Pat. Some here may claim it to be, but they are just hyping THEIR setup. All truth be known, someone does not buy a BK2 or the industry equivalents because they shoot great, they buy them for one reason, SPEED.

For me it isn' t what can it hurt it is what you have to give up to get it.

I am not a big guy and can' t stand the HARD cams.I like smooth cams and even though I have shot the hard cams,I had to turn the poundage way down to be comfortable with them.Or rotate the cam to make it feel smoother.

I also hate the amount of reflex that is needed to get speed.Anything over 1 1/2" isn' t acceptable for me.Even if the brace is 8" .

Speed is really a relative turm and a lot would call my bow that shoots in the 260' s range for hunting a fast bow,but in todays world that is slow.
