How Much do you eat??

For the past X years I've only tagged my buck and haven't shot a doe until last year when I got a tag to help out Matt (Rick James) with his doe population. I made both that big doe and my buck into bologna (minus a few select cuts for the grill). The bologna I have made is in high demand and I enjoy making sure some people get some. If I want a steak, I throw a Tbone on the grill, if I want burger, it's from a steer. (RJ) Tell your dad I still have him in mind for some of this fine, fine bologna.

3-4 for me and my family. I get 5 tags,6 if you count mule deer. I have yet to tag out. Maybe this year! That freezer was a great investment. I do give a small amount away to friends and family but not much.

Between my father and I, 3 deer is about perfect for us. He has a large freezer at his house so I store all of my meat there are refill every few weeks. Basically. One deer is turned into beer sticks and sausage, 3/4 into ground and the rest into steaks and roasts. Most of my friends think Im crazy for eating deer (Chicago suburb guys) but I tell them, "I didn't go to a store and buy my meat, I earned it and it tastes a lot better knowing that!"

Usually 2 deer per year is just right. Put 3 in the freezer last year and as of last week we've been eating venison alot more! It's just over 2 months until season starts and we have to empty the freezer.
