How Much do you eat??
How many deer do you consume in a year?
Ok, not trying to start a debate, just curious... Wife called and she's cooking up some deer steaks w/ potatoes and beans tonight for dinner and got me thinking about how much deer we alleat per year. YES I'm assuming if we kill it, we grill it...
For my family of 3 (for now) we eat deer in some form or other atleast once a week, usually twice, sometimes more. So that pans out to 2-3 deer per year.

RE: How Much do you eat??
My boys are getting big enough now that they are really starting to pack away the groceries.. Our freezer is starting to get low.. we have almost eaten 1 bull elk and 2 whitetail bucks ...season can't come fast enough!
We eat a lot of elk.. 4-5 times a week min.. whitetail we make a lot of burger and sausages/ breakfast sausages etc out of .. we it it1-3 times a week. Especially when we are off for the summer (wife and both teach) and we eat three squares here at home daily..

Ihave a family of 4 and we eat venison a lot, I voted 3-4 deer per year. Sometimes more and sometimes less just depending on how good the year was!!!! Also remember these are Texas deer they are smaller than the deer in the midwest.

I should also note that deer size does matter somewhat...
In GMMAT's case he should have put 0-1 [8D]

OK....I did give away the hams to my across the street neighbor from a doe fawn I killed, last year.....lol. I got a really nice note...saying it was awesome!
On the hoof weights of the three we kept were likely 100#'s, 110#'s and 200#'s. What that translates to in available meat to be consumed......your guess is as good as mine! I know the backstrap I cooked Sunday was YUMMY!
