RE: Passive or aggressive philosophy?

Absolutely nothing. The same theories and tactics apply.
No Dan. No they don't. I don't know too many run and gun bow hunters that hunt from a blind.

But again I'll ask, whats the difference as far as passive and agressive tactics are concerned between the two, Jeff?
The answer to this may lie in why you only saw jakes.

RE: Passive or aggressive philosophy?

But, honestly... Hunting out of a blind with a shotgun or with a bow... Tell me, how is it different as far as calling tactic are concerned? Explain it to me, because I'm obviously not seeing it.
The weapon (other than range) has nothing to do with it......if you're hunting out of a blind (as far as passive v. aggressive). What you see (as far as younger v. mor mature birds) MAY have something to do with the style chosen (if, again, you're talking about remaining stationary).

I asked my question to provoke the thought process......and not to put you on the defensive.

You know at least one;)

The beauty of a double bull, I can set it up in 7 sec like advertised.

It day break, I am setup near where they roost. I was thinking a few clucks/purs and then listen. If I get nothing back, should a yelp a bit?
Before day break, like right when you think they are going to fly down...

let out some tree yelps, and then take your hat and "whooosh" it against your legs and ground like a turkey is flying down. If you COULD learn the "fly down cackle".Then listen. Then do the clucks/purrs.

That is what I'D do.

RE: Passive or aggressive philosophy?

I have a month and a half, and I'll be just as agressive as I've always been. ;)
Remember, Dan....back at the beginning of the thread I stated this was about bowhunting turkeys and the tactics employed. That's why I think this statement came off as a little odd. It's also why I asked you the question I did.

I have one of those wing things, will do.
I have turkey hunted the last 5 years, but with a good caller. I am going solo this year:D, I guess I should have paid more attention[:@]

What is the differnce between a tree yelp and a regular yelp?

Here is a great link describing most the sounds a wild turkey makes along with sound clips!

http://www.wildturkeyzone.com/hunting/calldescriptions.htm

A tree yelp is shorter than a regular yelp, also quieter.
