I guess I'm aggressive. I try to roost a bird the night before and go for him. If not I start where I've seen birds and start making some noise at first light. If I raise a bird I go for him. If NOT,... then I start running and gunning. I like to cover ground. I usually start out with a plan or big circle to cover in mind. To me, it isn't turkey hunting sitting in a blind on the edge of a field where they are seen scratching and strutting every afternoon. Sitting there for as long as it takes or doesn't. I just don't like to hunt turkeys that way, but that's me. We can only hunt until noon so I prefer to cover the whole woods. I do have an umbrella blind that screws on where my stabilizer goes. Mostly public ground.

I would agree, I have learned alot from this thread and since I haven't been after birds in about 10 years - I plan on starting a little passive - just to see what the birds are doing -

I've said it before......I think we all take in the tactics people post in these forums and try to apply them to our own situations. Rob's been here hunting turkeys and deer. I don't have the luxury of packing up and moving very far to get on them. Hence my approach to hunting them.

This thread is PACKED with tried and true tactics. I thank everyone for their contribution(s).

Awe heck... just go ahead and jump that property line. LOL I have one piece of land that is jut a big high ridge. It's state land. On each side of the ridge is private land. The state landridge runs for about 3 miles and is about a mile wide. No one ever walks to the bowels of it. They hang around the roads that border it. Understand this state land probably has a half mile wide strip of private land all around it. No trails or roads in the place. Mostly big hemlock swamps surrounded by hardwoods surrounded by fields and old apple orchards. Glorious place to run and gun.
