I'm only asking to gauge how much experience you've got to be basing your opinions on, Jeff.
This isn't an opinion I formed from my experiences, Dan. It's MY philosophy I've chosen to employ.....based on a 30 year vet's "opinion". I've simply adopted it for this season.

So take Run and gun out of the equation and your hunting basically the same way. There are many gun hunters that won't run and gun.
Yes you are (hunting the same way). I haven't claimed differently. I've asked why you employed your calling tactics. I'm making the assumption that you are stationary to hunt turkeys (which is the way "I" think most bowhunters do it).
But I think Kyle is a run and gunner with a bow. Kyle what do you take with you? This is what I am taking

3 decoys
ASAT Quickie Blind
Bow
Bucket with lunch and pack in it.

My Decoys are in the bucket also, do you just kneel when you shoot?
2 decoys
Double Bull Matrix 360
Bow
Backpack

Pretty much exactly as you.

I know what is in every pocket of my backpack, and have my quiver and pot calls hanging off of it. I can set my blind up in 7 sec, as advertised. And know my land. Running and Gunning w/ bow is not a hard tactic, at all.

I've noticed I tend to call in larger birds with more aggressive callings, its when I become more passive that I tend to have Jakes come in.
I'm also wondering how this jives with your experiences bowhunting birds from last year and previous years going after them with the bow......since you said you passed on jakes.

Unless of course.....you hunt them the same way (be that stationary or mobile).

I called, last year, in a style I would consider "aggressive". I had multiple, oldertoms in sight on several occasions.....but got none of them to commit into a position that afforded me a shot. I went looking for a reason "why".

My buddy and me both shot birds, he shot a mature Gobbler, I shot a Jake. We called the exact same way, but a month a part. In MI the biggest birds tend to be shot later in the season. Maybe time of year has something to do with it.

No doubt about it, Germ. That is why it is so hard to pick what 5 day season to put in for in MN, it is hit-or-miss. You're going to hunt "henned" birds, or birds that are ready and willing. It has more to do with breeding then calling IMO

I think the turkeys and the room in which you have to operate in, plays a big part in whether to take a passive or aggressive approach.
