RE: Passive or aggressive philosophy?
I think you need to add about 20yds to the gun range.;) When I take the Mossberg, it's 40 yds and in;) I think the point being hammered home here is: Calling turkeys is more about the Turkey:D But W-T-F do I know:D |
RE: Passive or aggressive philosophy?
Jeff, out of curiosity, how many years have you hunted turkeys seriosuly?
|
RE: Passive or aggressive philosophy?
So take Run and gun out of the equation and your hunting basically the same way. There are many gun hunters that won't run and gun. |
RE: Passive or aggressive philosophy?
ORIGINAL: GMMAT I'm asking WHY I would need to get more aggressive. I'm looking to learn something. How do you "play" the birds? WHAT could he be doing to make you become more aggressive? You NEED to do something to get them to LEAVE those hens. If that means agressivly calling to call in the hens, or the tom. You need to do something to coax those turkeys TO YOU. If not, you are SOL. Or, if you see a bird 80+ yards out chances are he has hens, calling him from many directions. You want him to hear YOU and COME to YOU. Aggressive calling is what works for me. Oh, and I bet I can get blind set up, calls out, deeks out, arrow nocked in 1:30 tops. Faster if I'm with a buddy, like I usually am. |

ORIGINAL: GMMAT Jeff, out of curiosity, how many years have you hunted turkeys seriosuly? No malice intended. If its one or two seasons, you haven't seen half of what turkeys will/won'tdo. But whatever. |

RE: Passive or aggressive philosophy?
First thing in the morning (after fly down) if he isn't with hens I'll get very aggresive and then shut up. If I start hearing hens I'll get aggresive again.

RE: Passive or aggressive philosophy?
I'm only asking to gauge how much experience you've got to be basing your opinions on, Jeff. First thing in the morning (after fly down) if he isn't with hens I'll get very aggresive and then shut up. If I start hearing hens I'll get aggresive again. |
