If we did our jobs as parents and mentors there would be absoloutely no need for hunters ed.

In this case, one could argue that grass mowingand snow shoveling/blowingand bowhunting are similarly dangerous to one's self and nearby others. Yet, despite the similarity, many HUNTERS would like to see more regulation in their own sport but would probably not advocate more regulation in their yard/landscape maintenance.

state mandated grass mowing class
Do you have any reason to oppose hunter's ed classes other than you hate government intervention? This despite the fact that government intervention has benefitted hunters and wildlife?

So the kids of non-hunting parents will never be hunters? I know that isn't what you mean, but what about the guy who never shot a bow and wants to get into it along with his kids? The best way to start (besides lessons at the local pro shop) is the hunter ed program. Not only does it teach them some things about archery, but how it applies to hunting situations and how it differs from other kinds of hunting. It also shows some people that they are not ready to head into the field. Sometimes a rude wakeup.

We all stress education...It's not to be overlooked.. Case in point, perhaps any school aged kids (or girls) Ahem(
) who spend all day argueing politics on a hunting website, would be better suited getting theirs!

didn't read all the posts, because there are A LOT, and I have to attend CLASS in about twenty minnutes
If it wasn't mandatory, how many kids do you think would go?
I know if attendance wasn't MANDATORY in my sociology class I have to go to soon, well...lets just say...I would be sitting here on HNI

I don't oppose hunter's ed classes. I oppose mandatory bow hunting specific classes. It's just my opinion...no offense intended.
