I went to a new shop yesterday and the service was top notch. The owner waited on me, had one of his workers throwing bows together for me to shoot. He made a point of letting me know that my satisfaction was his number one priority, that if I bought a bow from him I could bring it in any time if their were any problems with it. I guess it doesn't hurt when they know you are looking to spend a grand or so in their store.

The owner of the local shop I go to is pretty cool. He can be a bit of a prick at times, but for the most part he's always been friendly to me and my family/friends when we've gone in. He supports all the youth bow shoots in the area and is pretty good at cutting deals for loyal customers.

glad to hear some good stories about shops, we only have one in my area, the rest are hr or 2 away. the big places like gander mt and Cabelas and Bass Pro, can't give real one on one help . they don't always have the best trained people either.

Va forr 4 and a half years I lived in Va. Every shop I walked into was a like I cant believe I am spending money here. The owners and employees were like I have to come there becuase they were the best around. They were. For instance I was looking at buying another bow I was looking at the bowtechs which he sold but he also sold matthews. The whole time I was there he constantly kept pushing me to buy a switchback. I dodnt want one I wanted the new bowtech guardian. That was at the point that I decided I would never do business with him anymore. Then I move to florida thepensacola area. Outkast bait and tackle they are awesome. Every other sunday they have a TV show on a local channel. They take caller questions and try to answer them. I purchased my bow from them in october and they set up a bunch of bows for me to shot and also cut me a deal onthe bow a bought. They are top notch and I recommend them to anyone in the area. I got a little of subject but My point is I have noticed in Va especially toward military members that shops do not like us. AndFor allin military towns we all are not bad people We get alot of young kids in and its there first time away from mom and dad and they forget how to act. I hate being treated this way becuase I stand here andguard the us and help fight for freedom and all people can do is treat us like crap becuase a few of the younger ones screw up.

Your lucky BHF! There's 2 shops within 50 miles of where I live and there both worthless as heck. I asked them about traditional equipment and they look at me like I'm an idiot. One guy told me you better get with the program and upgrade and hunt like everyone else does, its the right way to bow hunt he says! I looked at the guy and said I don't need all your fancy gadgets to shoot a deer, bear, etc like you need to have! He didn't like that to well but it was the truth! Every year Minnesota has a big Traditional shoot in June so I go there to the 3-D shoot and buy my stuff I need for the year after were done shooting.

My local shop will give you there left arm to make you happy, and spend an hour talking about which sight they prefer over another, just to help you make the right decision.

I only have two options for actual shops, and they're both very friendly. The problems I run into, however, is that they are so set in their ways (or beliefs) that if I disagree and want to go a different route than what they recommend, it's always a pain. For instance,

Problem:Iwant to switch to Feathers for better steering and FOC%.
Answer: "You don't want to do that. They're too loud... the deer'll jump the arrow".Yeah right. Let me show you the inside of my freezer.....

Problem: My 5575's are underspined for 29" draw at 70# & 100 grain point according to the GT chart.
Answer. "No, the chart can't be right. They're fine for your setup. GT must be trying to unload some of their 7595s." Huh?

You get the idea. I just listen with a smile, take onboard what sounds likegood advice and let the rest roll off and do what I think is best. But they are friendly.
