Norfolk, Area. I think briar creek lake is close to you I have done a little fishing there. I also had problems with boat dealers. I ended up ordering mine through bass pro shops from U.A.E thats the middle east no one wanted to deal with me. Over seas. They at least did. Good thing is I at least am able to hunt on military bases. I have had friends outside of the military that we got permission to hunt until they found out I was Military then my friends got to hunt it but they wouldnt let me.

To listen to my pro shop owner you would think that he was responsible for starting archery in WV. He's a;way whining about the lack of customers but in the late summer and early fall he'swhining about being at the shop allof the time. Just one of them people that you couldn't whip with a brand new belt and make him happy.

Your lucky BHF! There's 2 shops within 50 miles of where I live and there both worthless as heck. I asked them about traditional equipment and they look at me like I'm an idiot. One guy told me you better get with the program and upgrade and hunt like everyone else does, its the right way to bow hunt he says! I looked at the guy and said I don't need all your fancy gadgets to shoot a deer, bear, etc like you need to have! He didn't like that to well but it was the truth! Every year Minnesota has a big Traditional shoot in June so I go there to the 3-D shoot and buy my stuff I need for the year after were done shooting.

The shop I go to is top notch, thats why I go there! They treat everyone the same, if they didn't I wouldn't go there!

Steve I don't know if you ever heard of Larry Whiffen of Whiffen Archery, his shop was a mile from my house, big time traditional shop. He just recently closed up. I wish I would of seen the light of Traditional shooting a few years ago when he was open! I thought the guy was just weird having a place like that, boy was I WRONG! I'm looking forward to my 1st Traditional shoot sometime this summer, I'll be going with a pocket FULL of money!!!!!!

Sadly, both shops I go to aren't friendly at all. I live in South Florida and the one I go to here is as bad as they come. They are arrogant, expensive, and are hard to get any helpful info out of. We have very few shops in my area so they have you by the b-sack. I hunt yearly in western PA with family so I also visit a shop there. The guy who runs that is much more helpful, but isn't all that friendly. I feel like I'm interrupting him from doing nothing when I bring my bow in for some work.

The head person at the shop i had been going to was an ok guy. He wasen't an a hole and heisn't the nicest person in the world. Now the new shop i went to this weekend, this guy is the nicest person anyone could know. Me and Hunter Dan7 went there and i had never met him, Dan met him once, but i bet we sat there and talked about hunting, bows, and everything else you can think of for about 2 hours. So i think i will be going to the nicer guys shop.

If I've got a grand in my pocket when I walk through the door, they're a real friendly bunch. Otherwise, not so much. Sucks, because they're the only shop on my side of town.
Fortunately I don't need them for anything. I can do all of my work myself and anything else I need I can get online.
Being self sufficiet is nice.

They are fine, so long as you are willing to buy what they want to sell. [:-] In my case, specifically Bowtech...didn't want anything that was being crammed down my throat, so it is the last brand I'd buy. I have an Elite Fire on the way and I'll be willing to travel even further (I was already driving an hour and a quarter) to patronize a shop that is interested in selling what I am interested in buying and in servicing a brand of bow of my choice.

The shop down in NC the archery guys are great, i go in sometimes after work just to chat, they are very helpful and great people to talk to.
The shop up here in VA the guy is a nice guy but thats it. If it aint something he's selling its no good at all. I.E. "PSE" Its the best and your bow aint worth crap. He gets on my nerves, but he is a nice guy and i dont mind having a conversation with him.

I noticed it, mainly because I am interested in a Diamond Black Ice, which they won't carry and must order one. Plus, I didn't have a lot of money to buy theaccessories that they recommend for me. Instead, I wanted to go with roughly a $50 rest and a $50 sight and the 4" stabelizer for $15 along with a quiver from Walmart because in my opinion, $20 is about as I as I go on a quiver. They sell mostly Hoyt, Matthews, and Ross with some Bowtech.
So yeah, it depends on what type of business that you want to give them for the treatment that you expect in return. But heh, they are the ma and pa shops so business isn't all that easy so I can understand. It just means that I will have to drive 70 miles to Cabela's, LOL
