What's the point? I don't want to sound like some Crotchetty old fart. I want to LIVE the part.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
Finally I said to heck with it, find a hole. I found a hole, a 4 point walks in it at what I called a long 30 between two trees. I have to squeeze the arrow through a 5 inch crack at 20 yards. It sails perfectly through and slides right under his belly. I range my arrow sticking in a tree.... 38 yards.[!]

So, I passed up a couple slam dunks trying to get a whack at the 8. Then I took a long shot and missed. Of course I'm crotchetty. My THUNDERHEAD buried in an oak past the end of the arrow. I unscrew it and leave a calling card buried at ground level in an oak. Of course I'm crotchetty. I don't want to talk about it.

Maybe you should practice what you preach.

I think they put on a good show,BUT! I was once watching an elk video of theirs and they were talking about how rough these hunts are and how wary elk are. Keep in mind they're hunting on flat ground in NM. What turned me off is this young kid who takes the bull is wearing brite white sneakers. They were trying not to show it but slipped a couple times.

Yep, I saw it. I watched it with my daughters and was trying to force my wife to watch it as well. "See honey, these women bowhunters don't dip snuff...they even wear makeup." Being the only male in the house I was excited to point out to all of them that they could hunt with me someday and that it is just not a men's sport. Then as we continued to watch and she kept on frickin' rattling the horns while the 3 bucks were fighting and they paid no attention to her but later she insisted that she "rattled them in". Then as the bucks meandered up to an open shooting area I shrieked as I watched her point the bow to high noon and give it the ole heave ho in an attempt to get the bow back and then I could not figure out what the heck happened with her dry firing her bow. I kept saying "what the heck happened? What did she do? Why are the bucks still just standing there?" Then she heave ho's the bow again and her arrow falls off and her hubby is there to help her put the flippin' arrow back on her rest for her. By this time I'm beside myself and assuring the rest of my family that it really should not go this way. Then the buck she draws on is staring at her but then starts to walk and then hubby Jay does the patented Realtree "baaaaa" to get the buck to stop and she lets the arrow fly where it nails the buck high in the back between the guts and the lungs. I say "ooooooooh bad shot...they aren't gonna find that one soon. Then the next shot is of her and it is dark and I'm saying "see they couldn't find him...she lost him...bummer." Then much to my amazement she walks a few feet, pushes back some foilage and low and behold, there is the buck.....hmmmmmmm.

I didn't see this one but some of you might remember a similar thread that I started here. In that show it was winter and she couldn't get the bow back and she started crying and her husband (who was filming) reached down and helped her draw her bow and then she took a shot and missed the buck. It was the most pathetic friggn thing that I have ever seen in my life! Now apparently she's at it again! I like Jay and he seems like a good hunter but this crap with his has turned me against him. I emailed them the last time and never got a resonse. I would like to hear an explanation!

Wolfen, you have by far the best play-by-play of what happened on that show. I'm just cracking up, reading how you have portrayed the show. You do it well.

Hi,

Guys,lighten up a little!

I saw it and it was different. The hit wasn't as bad as been made out to be.I think the arrow was angling forward.Ive hit deer there before with my Rocket Hammerheads and they never made 50 yards.

Sorry Tree Hugger, but if you don't get both lungs, they don't go down in fifty yards. There are exceptions, but that is the rule and mother nature made it, not us.

The bad shot isn't even the main issue to me, it's the circus act before the shot and the fact that the deer are too tame to run. There are many, many women archers out there that could represent the "real" bowhunting community so much better. If I want to see a pretty woman all made up, I'll watch Baywatch. In a bowhunting show, I want to see the archer wait patiently for the right time to draw, draw in one smooth motion and execute a good shot with good shot placement. The instant they have to point the bow at the moon and do a contortionist act to achieve full draw, I'm ready to turn the channel.

I don't remember what show it was, but I once watched a cute blonde woman make a perfect double lunger on a rather large grizzly bear. The draw and shot execution were a thing of beauty. That's what I want to see in a bowhunting show. She proved without a doubt that a woman can do it the right way.
