Some asked why I left it lay. I called the DNR when I came in the house and our game warden told me that he didn't have the time or resources to check out all the EHD (blue tongue) cases in our area. He also told me that no other animals, deer or scavengers were at risk from the deer laying there. As far as tagging it, he told me that since I did kill it while hunting, it needed to be turned in.

why did he tell you to leave it lay there are they going to come get it or what i would not wontit just laying there

Tim, its still laying there if you want it.

This was in IL, the reason I called was to see if they wanted to see/take the deer in. He said the number of calls they had received about sick or dead deer this fall was mind blowing. Hopefully we will get a killing freeze soon.
I talked to a c.o. 3 weeks ago from down Shawnee way and he said it's blown out of proportion...I wonder if he was downplaying it for some reason.

Poor deer. He was probably just out chasing hot poontang all night, maybe downed a bottle of Night Train or two, finally headed back to his bed to sleep off a magnum hangover after a long night of carousing with some "morally casual" does- and you go and shoot him. [>:]

Real nice Dave. Real nice. LOL

I had to put down a 6 pointer on my farm thursday that had that 'HD' disease. Game warden told me the same thing, that they would not come look at it because they had so many calls on it. Its a shame to see the deer diing like this, but I heard after a couple good frost that it will be taken care of, at least untill next year. I live in VA, and the game warden said nothing to me about havinf to use a tag.
