You did the right thing. I would have hated to see that. I'd burn a tag as well to end the suffering of an animal sick like that.

why did he tell you to leave it lay there are they going to come get it or what i would not wontit just laying there

i would burn it if nothing Else and i know here in Indiana we are expecting 32 tomorrow night in southwest hopefully it will get there soon as for a tag i know here in Indiana if you find one that has a disease you kill it call a dnr guy then take it to a vet they check it out and you get a new tag if it is diseased

Yes, that was the right thing to do. I hate to see an animal suffer.

This thread points out how deer hunters feel about deer. Yes, we do kill them, but we want humane, quick kills and can't stand deer suffering. Anti hunters apparentlyare the ones who would rather have them die slowly like this. How ironic.

Definitely the right thing to do. I'd at least have them check it out to rule out any other possibilities like CWD. But w/CWD they say it normally doesn't affect fawns.

Exellent point Dave. I too would take a deer if it is in misery, either by disease or another hunters poor shot. You did the right thing my friend.
