Default Becoming Frustrated

Out here on Long Island there are a lot of "Public Lands" to hunt, the only problem is there are not a lot of areas within the public lands that appear to be decent sites. I scouted along a dirt road in one of the areas, and saw a lot of deer, however when I got the maps of the hunting areas (hand drawn mapsfrom the county) the parking spots were in the bedding areas.
I went out this weekened (despite the 80+ degree weather) , and people were already parked there, so I had to go to another spot, and I did not see anything, not even any signs of deer.
In the 4 years I have been hunting here, I have never even seen a scrape or a rub on the public lands.
What is the best way to find private lands to hunt? What about finding a lease on private lands?

Ask for permission.

If you hunt public land you have to go deep.
