*UPDATE* - What a day
*UPDATE* - Go to Cabelas.com - the picture of the 10pntris very close to what he looked like, sans the split brow tines, and the G3s were a little taller.
WhenI went to lunch and saw how nice it was...I knew this was one of those days that I need to tell work to screw off and be outdoors, WAY too nice to be cooped up in the cube farm. So I went home, threw my camo in the Jeep along with my fishing stuff and headed out. Started at the lake, didn't catch anything but a small largemouth. So I headed for one of my deer spots. Sat on the west side of a large bean field facing east.30 minutes later here come 3 does downmy side of the field from the north. They got within 30 yards and then turned behind me. Right as they went in the trees I noticed 3 more deer on the north end of the field - 2 does and a small 6 pointer. After a few minutes they seemed real interested in something to the east, so I pan over with the binocs and there he was, right on the edge of the field. I watched him for 20 minutes, in awe the whole time. He had 10 pointson the tallest rack I've seen in the wild. His main beam angled up about 25 degrees. The G3 on his right side was incredible enough, but then he turned and I saw the other one was another inch taller. The widest points on the rack were about 1 inch past the ear tips when they were out to the sides. Wish I could do more to describe just how nice he was. My jaw was on the floor so long I forgot to takepics. They wouldn't begood anyway, he was a good 200 yards away and my zoom isn't much. Hopefully he makes it another year, this year I'm only getting a doe tag for this unit. Man am I glad I took the afternoon off!
