Our fawns dress out about 50#[8D]

We can run that show right after "Overpopulation Road trips". We'll keep our bows on the hanger when a chance at reducing the herd comes alongand just watch 'emALL starve.

As Christine has stated so well it is a personal choice.I personally can't do it.If our herd was out of control and ravaging the vegetation and we were experiencing significant winter kill well then maybe or probably I could do it.Obviously a sensitive subject.I wish my reaction was different when I see a picture of an olderhunter over a downed fawn.For me it is the balancing of the hunting challenge portion of the equation with the good of the habitat and herd portion of the equation.
This has nothing to do with the fawn conversation but it has come up with some other folks here.I personally wont eat veal,veal pens orsheds strike me as inhumane,I don't eat suckling pig or faux graus either.Just not my thing

I would never shoot a deer with spots![:@]

A fawn with spots is illegal most everywher I've heard of. But technically a deer is still a fawn until it's first birthday at which point it becomes a yearling. I think the thread starter meant a fawn deer somewhere between losing spots and yearling.

I won't go out looking to shoot one but I would definitely not hesitate if the right oppurtunity presented itself simply because I love to cook venison and that is some of the best meat you will ever eat. My stomach tends to override all of the mushy "Awww look at the cute deer stuff." That's just me though, I love the cute little crock pot stuffers, not like the way I love my dog or anything more like the way I love mashed potatoes and gravy.

I don't think there's anything wrong with shooting a fawn. Especially if you're in a deer camp you don't have to hang them for days you can just eat em right away. I've only shot one. I know a guy who really sucks at hunting and he has to carry around shoe polish to get rid of them spots.

No fawn shooting for me. I've actually concentrated on trying to shoot only mature bucks AND does period, strictly for the challenge, Besides, from different angles its sometimes hard to tell that a fawn may be a button buck.
