Is is better to hunt a blind or stand right now? Also would like to know when deer start moving more in the daylight hours. I have been hunting out of a blind but the deer are coming out right after dark. It is still in the 80's here in KY so would it be better to hunt mornings rather than evenings?

I would perffer to use a stand and hunt early in the mornings during the early season , you'll see alot more deer that way.

Being from Southern Indiana (right by the Ohio), I agree with RDHunter. Mornings are cooler, and I think a stand is your best bet.

I personally have to say mournings are your best bet right now and I have always prefer to hunt a stand rather than on the ground. I think you get more of a view in most cases.

I agree, morning and stand during early season. You will start seeing more bucks/deer movement during the day when the chase/pre-rut starts. In Minnesota that is about the middle of October.

I've been watching a group of deer come into a water hole (in a pasture) right before dusk for about the past week. This weekend is our opening archery season and I think I'll set up a ground blind on that water hole . I do more of my hunting out of a stand than i do the ground blind, but the blind can have its advantages too.

A blind can be a wonderful option in the big woods with lots of ridges and hills where going up 20 feet would still put you only at about 5 - 10 feet off the ground from many of the trails the deer would likely be travelin upon. I use blinds in such situations a lot. I set them up so they don't surprise the deer but so that they also don't really notice them until they're coming in at about 50 yards or so. And when I say notice, I mean in their field of vision, not spot and be alarmed. The hunting can be intense expecially if they saunter by at about 5 yards, which you never plan on happening but does!
