I really dont think you can make a blanket statement about mature bucks either. The animals that survive heavy hunting pressure and heavy predation hands down have moreobstacles to overcome than the rest. Therefore whatthey deem as dangerous stimuli differs as does their behavior.

oh as far as the show goes, I've watched it a couple times..they sure grow some monsters on that farm there ...

He passed a 170" 12 in that stretch because he knew it was young and definitely get to 200" with another year or two. I about puked! But, if you know no one is going to kill that deer, and have enough land to ensure that, why not right?
Unless he owns or has total control of several thousands of acres, there is no guarantee that one particular buck will not be killed somewhere else. Core area or not when big bucks start roaming for does, they can and will roam far beyond their "core" area.

It really doesnt matter how many P&Y deer Lee passed up in those 58 days, he was waiting for a mature buck. I know on my farm in western Illinois its not at all uncommon to see a P&Y class 2.5 year old buck. I passed a heck of an 8 pointer up the year before last that was 2.5 years old and probably would have scored in the mid 120's. Im sure Iowa is the same way. Deer hunting is the same no matter where you go. Hunting is hunting, thats why they dont call it deer killing.Every hunter out there has certain obstacles and challenges he or she must over come to be succesful thats part of the sport, its no reason to critisize or put other hunters down. I believe it was Mr. Ted Nuggent that said hunters spend way too much time fighting andjudging other hunters instead of coming together to fight anti hunting. I think there is allot of truth to that.
