Cat whiskers are the ultimate for silence of your bow BUT they will slow you bow down an avg. of 7-10fps but QUITE....
I'm gonna dock you a half cent on your two pennies. I've been using cat whiskers for more than 20 years and have never seen that much speed loss, even on those old bows that needed two pairs.

And another quarter cent for misspelling 'quiet.' [8D]

Get whatever you can made by SIMS. They make great products. Get some leeches, they work great.

I agree with everyone for String Leeches... MoBow..do you Personally know that it gives your more FPS...becuz that sounds like a lie to me but who knows..you could be right!
Well, my Vectrix has them, and I was playing around one day and chrono'd it....I was shooting 310. So, I figured I would take the shox off and gain some speed. The bow is quiet anyway, so I figured what the heck....

Uh, yeah....Slowed down to 303 and was noticeably louder.....So I put them back on, right back up to 310 and was quiet again.

Now, I guess I can't say it will work that way for every bow out there, but it did for mine.

mobow,

So the shox are basically functioning like speed nocks, right?

If they add 7 fps, just for marketing purposes Hoyt should install them on all bows.

I had same problem as in da woods with Tribute and CSS, and have not gotten around to
putting on whiskers. That is hopefully a project that will get done this week.

Shox are standard equipment on Hoyt bows. I believe they even advertise that on their bows they gain speed....

Again, I'm not sure if that's just a deal engineered in their equipment, or if it works on other makes as well....

Any string silencer will help, I personally like the yarn or fur ones myself over anything rubber. The rubber always makes a swooshing or whipping sound. Most likely from the rubber stretching and then coming back. The yarn or fur ones are a bit quieter. They do have draw backs when hunting thick brush or in the rain though.

I would not own a bow without silencers on it, even if it was a target bow. They help take the vibration out of the string.

As far as speed loss, depends on how heavy they are and where you put them. Put them in the right spot and you will hardly lose any speed, might even gain a few fps. It takes some experimenting though, and sometimes you need to compromise and give up some speed for maximum quietness, or give up some noise for the extra speed. The closer you get to the center of the string the slower it will be.

The difference in speed will only be noticeable on a chronograph though. Without one you will never notice the difference. It is not like it will change your speed so much your trajectory will change or you will need to change your pin settings (maybe at 60 or 70 yards).

If you want to spend the money a STS costs and hang that sucker off your bow feel free, but you can get it quiet for less than sales tax would be. And in my opinion it would be more quiet.
