SO no one here is going to own up on taking a shot that when you had the time to reflect back on it, say to yourself that maybe you shoul'nt have taken the shot even if the end results was a recovered deer.Yea the guy took a marginal shot at best, but that does not mean it was unethical like some here are saying! I know it was on tv for the whole wolrd to see but i hope no one thinks that it is less wrong to take that shot if no one is looking!

NEVER! I have wished I had a shot back because of a miss but I have NEVER taken a head on or quartering to shot in my life and never will. I have had too many of those shots before I figured out where to placemy stands and never gave in to pressure. If your patient and commited to ethical shots you won't regret any shot you take either. As long as you bow hunt you will have shots you wish you had back but you shouldn't want it back because if ethics.

So explain "risky". Is risky borderline out of range? Is it a shot with branches in the way? Is it a head-on or quartering to shot? Is it a shot at a walking or running deer? What is risky and what makes it not unethical?

I somewhat agree. I guess ethics are what the shooter feels at the time. If one can justify shooting at a deer that is running they can claim it was risky to avoid the word unethical... Same can be said about a deer that is walking straight at them. I guess some would say that is risky, I would say it is unethical... Those shots in my oppinion shouldn't be taken with a rifle let alone a bow reguardless of experience or equipment.
Risky/unethical... Man, what a thread this could be. I'll start it, Thanks for the discussion.
