Horrible ending to horrible season
I went back out for the last day of season after losing a deer friday. I wasn't in my spot for 5 minutes before I saw small does 50 yds to my left. From 3:00 till dark these same does stayed within 50yds of me eating. All the while I can barely see and hear other deer behind them. Could have taken one of the does at any moment, but she was smaller than I felt was right to take, and I was hoping something bigger was among the deer out of site. About 4:30 I'm watching these does cause they're so close I'm afraid they're gonna see me & spook everything around, when I hear the thump thump thump of hooves back to my right. I freeze immediately knowing its a deer. After not hearing anything for a minute I SLOWLY turn my head to the right when I hear something take off and notice its a nice big buck running away from me. Damn thing had come into the clearing while I was watching the stupid does and saw me before I knew he was there. Now I'm down to the 2 day January doe season to fill my freezer, this season could not have gone any worse! [:@]

Got to hate seasons like that. I have had a few. The good thing, there is all ways next season, or as you stated, doe season. Keep you head up and good luck.

It sucks not filling the freezer, but things could have been a lot worse. I always enjoy seeing big bucks. Not as much as I like shooting them, but...Anyway, look at it this way. You now have until next season to find out where that buck is bedding, what his food sources are, and what his travel lanes are. With a little snow on the ground this shouldn't be too hard. With the primary rut past us up north here the bucks woll do a little more rubbing too. Anyway, at a minimum you know you can move your stand back towards where that buck was so you can catch him a little earlier.
Well,....stay positive, and good luck in the doe season. Sound like you've got the does figured out though.

Ever see the old Twilight Zone where the lifelong criminal fianaly gets killed by a cop then goes to heaven. Heaven was this casino where he had a penthouse suite and everything was free the women never said no and he could'nt lose while gambling. He eventually got incredibly frusterated and bored silly with there being no challenge and everything coming to him so easily with absolutly no effort or disappointment. In the end we find out he was really in hell.
