Default Controlling deer movement

Anyone ever tried to control the travel route of deer? If you have, did it work?

I've got a new spot to huntwhich onlyoffers one good tree to hang a stand. The deer currently travel through the area about50 yards from my stand location where they jumpa fence and headdown to feed.In an effort to bring the deer closer to my setup, I cut the fence to make an opening where the deer can simply walk throughabout 25-30 yards from where they currently cross. I cut the fence in March but haven't been back to check it out yet.

Do you think the deer will slightly change their travel pattern for an easier route?

From everything I've read and heard it works. Considering deer usually take the easiest route of travel.

Its a posibility...Im sure the deer would rather walk through a hole in a fence then jump it...I guess one way to find out is to check the spot.

Deer are lazy. They'll take the easiest route as long as it has cover. Cutting the fence was a good start. Make sure the old hole is patched and block the trail to it. Clear a trail to your new one. They'll find your route.

mow or clean it up making a trail to the fence, also you may try some type of attractant to get them started on the trail

I have done this using tree tops from a recent logging project on my property. APAJaws shot 2x does out of my "nanny whacker" stand that has tree tops funneling them to walk the very top edge of a side hill. Works like a charm. The first time he hunted this spot and shot his first deer of the season 4x seperate 2.5 year old bucks came through chasing does less than 25 yards from the stand.

Yeah, i think that the deer will find your way to the new path. You might try blocking the old one...
