Like others have said, it'll probably work man. Patch the old fence.....mow/rake/bushhog your new spot....get a 5 dollar mineral block and a 5 dollar jug of the apple syrup attractant and wa-la that'll get em movin through there.....

probably

Just want to echo that if all other things are equal, a deer will definitely take the easier route.

That's why deer often walk the same paths in weeds, follow high ridges or ditches, and follow ATV trails in the woods. You can find miniature cattle trails out there.

I think your plan is a good one, especially having a fence. Only possible negative is you might spook mature deer changing the habitat up too much as we get closer to the season, so do it now.

Yes, it will work to some degree. However, you may want to use additional barriers such as brush piles and attractants like a mock scrape under a low hanging licking branch. A decoy may also work if the setup is right. Just remember that what appears to be a barrier to you is a minor inconvenience to a deer!

Yup, it works. I done the same thing a few years ago. I cut down a tree and put it in front of the place they were jumping the fence then went about 15yds down and cut an opening in the fence. They were using it within a few days.

I did this last year, too.

I hunt woods that has a pasture fence. No horses in the fence, last year....so I took a section down for deer season. I watched them use it .....even had a trail cam set up there before last season.

I also watched them just jump the fence at random, too.
