Drury Outdoors is Employing a Poacher
#41
Got this quate from David Foret from his bio on the Drury web site.
"Well I could go into a bunch of technical mumbo-jumbo and try to dazzle you with all of my whitetail knowledge, but instead I am going to share with you my deadliest secret for consistently taking big deer".
Poacher or not that comment is funny!!!! Sounds full of himself for sure!!

I like the Drurys and their products. Things slip through the cracks, sometimes. If all the allegations are proved to be true, I would expect the proper steps to be taken. As c903 stated, I find it hard to believe that Drury Outdoors will let themselves be ruined, by a rat in the cheese box.<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

Well I wasn't going to reply to this thread at all, but I think I will put in my two cents worth. I have a feeling that Drury looked at David Foret and the position he holds in the private community Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of West Memphis, if I was hiring someone and saw that they held that position I would assume they were not a poacher/criminal. I did see that all of the poaching was done outside of Arkansas and as a result his employer, the City of West Memphis, Arkansas may be totally unaware of his law breaking in Illinois. If he is the David Foret mentioned in the link to the article in The Federal Wildlife Officer, and Drury verifies this I would be willing to bet they will can him. If silentassasin called Drury and was told what he said he was told I would be willing to bet it was not someone very high up in Drury. I will say again that if the David Foret that was convicted of poaching is the same David Foret that works for Drury and Drury verifies it, they will can him.

I'd have to agree with Tazman, if I was hiring someone and knew they were employed in such a position, I would never think to check further into their background, it wouldn't even cross my mind. I would never guess the state would overlook something like that.
Now that they are aware, if it's the same guy, I'm all for following up, keep bumping this thread until something is done. I won't blame Drury Bros until they FAIL to act. If they can the guy, good enough for me.
Good job silent, pointing this out, if it is the same guy.

As far as the Drurys hiring this guy think about how many shady people there are working at your workplace. Taz brings up a good point. If these allegations are factual, which it appears they are, when the Drurys finish their investigation I'll be willing to bet there will be a vacancy on their staff. I have never personally met the Drurys, but everything that I have heard from people that have met them has been positive, so I am confident that they will do the right thing.
C903, as a journalism major in college we covered libel and slander quite a bit and litework is right. Since Foret is in the "public light" being on the videos and representing the company he does not have the same protections against defaming remarks as you or I. If the accusations were outlandish and completely fabricated he could bring suit against silent for bringing this up. However, since there is documented evidence in print of past wrong doings from a reputable source his case would be baseless and he would most certainly lose. I know you are looking out for the best interests of everyone, but silent seems to be safe in this case.

Whats the difference between right and wrong? Not being convicted! Its seems there has been convictions. It also could quite possibly be that the employers had no knowledge of the past......I will assume that to be the case. Heck, I don't buy or rent hunting videos anyway.

Wow, I sure hope Drury Outdoors gives an explanation for hiring this guy.

Maybe the Drury Outdoors didn't know about Mr. Ferots history with game violations, wouldn't you check on some one you were going to put on your web site and in your video's? I sure would. I'm the athletic Director for a youth football league we do back round checks on everyone. It's easy it took me about 15 seconds to find this article.
If you are going to have someone in the public eye representing your company it makes sense to make sure they won't tarnish your reputation, don't you think?

Charlie P... that can be done to a certain extent. But again, all these convictions/documented poaching incidents seemed to have happened out of state. You might do a little check locally or talk to a couple local folks in the know, but I doubt they'd ever find these type of things. Game violations are not highly publicized like robbery or major theft or things like that. If they talked to the mayor he probably wouldn't have a clue. And, the guy certainly isn't going to come back home and tell everyone I got arrested and convicted in another state for breaking the law. I'm surprised that he only had his hunting license suspended for 5 years. That kind of stuff will get you a lifetime in some places. Traffic violations in another state are usually reported to your home Motor Vehicle Bureau and go as marks on your license. I wonder why they don't do that with major game violations.

Just to set a few things straight:
When I called Drury and told them of this, the marketing director told me that Mark wrote it off as jealousy and didn't intend to do anything about it. I don't believe they knew about his exploits but they do now and have not expressed any sincere desire to investigate the matter. Secondly, it can't be to tuff to investigate this sort of thing because several people on this forum found the information with no trouble at all. Next, my intention was to inform the ethical members of this board of what I considered to be a troubling situation. You can try to paint it however you want to but the fact of the matter is that no one knows what I know but it seems strage that the very things that I originally alleged are now being supported with facts. You all can rest assured that I would have never made these accusations in the first place without first knowing whether or not I could prove them to be true. I would tend to think that a couple of eyewitnesses along with the testimony of a couple of Memphis Game Wardens would go along way toward doing that.
