thanks guys, I'll probably just start standing because the whole turning around on one foot scares the crap out of me.

I have a summit and every time I go up I set the bottom part of the stand then let the top down to my feet so I don't have to step over the seat uncomfortably/ unsafely. The system seems to work quite well for me.

The ole man company now has a climbing seat that buckles on to sit on to climb. Just unbuckle when you get up to height and turn around. Guess they make these to prevent stepping over. Do you have the grand or original . I have one of the seats for the grand. I don't own the ole man anymore and have been trying a Treewalker.

i put one foot on the front rail move the net to the back ,put the foot thats on the rail back down then put the next foot over the net.sit on the rail if you need to.
or use the rail to sit on when climbing and put the net between you and the tree.kind of uncomfy though.

I've got the original. I'll probably just take it like a man and put the seat by the tree and sit on the rail. I do alot of standing but I hunt from sunlight till 12 and 2 till dark so it's alot of standing. But I never thought about sitting on the rail while climbing I'll try it in the yard when I get a chance. Thanks for all the input

That in itself would create a safety issue. You should always have the two sections tied together with a teather that should be to short to allow that.

OH, and practice at ground level to figure it all out before you head for 25 feet up.
